Not sure if your giveaway is for us in the UK but here goes. My favourite recent read is Rona Jaffe's The Best of Everything, a novel set in the 1950's about young women living and working in New York. It's very evocative of the era (a la Mad Men) when ending up a spinster was a real fear and smoking cigarettes and knocking back whisky essential skills!

I read a lot, A LOT, of memoirs. I like fiction...but if you're going to read about something why read it from someone who has imagined it (nothing wrong with this of course!), why not read the real, honest to goodness experience from someone who lived it!

Hmmm...hard to pick a favorite! I really loved Feathers From My Nest by Beth Moore because she is a Bible study teacher that I respect and it gave some fun insight into her mothering heart. Most recently I guess it would be Black Heels to Tractor Wheels by Pioneer Woman. The laugh-out-loud moments were plentiful but there were tears as well.

My favorite has to be the entire set of Little House on the Prairie books. I have the battered paperback set that was given to me when I was 8 years old and I read the entire series all the way through at least once every 2 years. The writing is sweet; the stories poignant; a reminder of what is truly important. And someday I want to make snow candy just like Laura did!
